I am not sure if you are aware of this just yet but did you know that Algonquin College Alumni and students are actually running this years TEDxOttawa event? It is being held at Algonquin College on October 22nd with the theme Creative Actions.

We are all proud believers of TED and the amazing messages it portrays. As marketing manager of the event I am SO excited to be bring this to Ottawa and giving people the opportunity to experience a TEDx event for themselves.

Thanks for spreading the word of TED and keep an eye out for TEDxOttawa: Creative Actions!

The whole article misses out on the entire notion of putting one's best professional foot forward! Our professional selves can be all over the web. Smart job searches consolidate all this information into a unified view.

Dave - thanks for your comment. I'm excited about how recruiting will become far more personal and I see a transformational shift happening between old school recruiting and social recruiting over the next 2 years.

Hi Robert, interesting post! You are most correct that social media and other web based job search solutions will eventually present themselves sometime in the near future. While I am from the old school of more personal contact when developing a network of colleagues and professional peers the value of sites like LinkedIn and Facebook cannot be emphasized enough. I enjoyed your post and will come back often to see what you folks have to offer in your blog. Thanks!

It is hard to fathom someone with 18,000 followers and 18,000 followees. Gaming is something many of us like to do - my suspicion is, many early users felt it necessary to play this game. Not convinced there are meaningful, two way conversations going on.
